Hello everyone! Happy October! Ready for Autumn? I’m certainly ready, although when I was choosing the photos for this post I felt nostalgic about the beautiful summer days we spent on the Greek islands almost two weeks ago only! Funny how time passes so quickly, isn’t it? I’m one of these makeup geeks that will take some new products with on holiday and test them out. Do you ever do that? Seeing as I travel quite light, it’s unusual for me but I couldn’t really wait to try out the new Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Collection! Here go my thoughts on my picks.
If you read this blog or follow me on Instagram, you’ll know by now that I love a smokey eye and cream eyeshadows (yes, more than powder ones). I also love smudging my liner and using it inside my waterline. Well, then you can guess what my picks from the Estée Lauder x Victoria Beckham Collection were more or less. 🙂
- AURA GLOSS (£30)
I don’t normally go for eye glosses. I find them sticky and unpleasant and they make my eyeshadow crease. However, the VB Aura Gloss is something different. Yes, you can use it on your eyelids, but it can also work brilliantly as a highlighter for your cheeks and I also use it as a transparent lip gloss. It’s beautifully emollient, with subtle gold shimmer and I enjoyed wearing it so much while we were holidaying by the beach.
When worn on top of eyeshadow the Aura gloss will cause creasing, however worn on its own it’s beautiful on the eyes. Very transparent and with sophisticated glitter. If you are thinking about trying an eye gloss and indulging in the trend, look no further. The Victoria Beckham x Estée Lauder Aura Gloss will give you that sophisticated glow effortlessly.
2. EYE FOIL (28)
When I swatched the Victoria Beckham Eyeshadow palettes (the duos and the quad), I have to admit I wasn’t excited at all. Neither the level of pigmentation or shades wowed me. But the Eye Foils were a different case altogether! Creamy, well pigmented and in two shades that I can see myself using a lot. I have nothing similar in my stash, so it was well worth the price tag.
A white-golden shade (yes it’s possible!), with complex shimmer that dries down to a shimmery metallic finish. It beautiful in the inner corner or all over the lid! I wore this one at the beach too and had tons of fun with it! It’s easy to apply but dries down quite fast, so you need to be speedy with application, otherwise it will get very patchy. No brushes, just fingers with this one and then blending the edges with the brush. I experienced a considerable amount of fall out, so make sure you do your eyes first before applying any other make-up.
Blonde Gold did crease on me, but I forgot my primer on the day! Over primer it lasts well. In all honesty, if you want to choose one eye foil only, then the star is Burnt Anise. It applies like a dream, sets quickly and doesn’t transfer at all. I experienced no fall out with it and I achieved a three minute smokey eye!
Brown eyed ladies, you need this one! It’s a dark blue with silver and gold shimmer that will make your eyes pop. It lasted all day on me, survived the Greek heat and it’s just a fantastic product!
3. EYE KAJAL (£30)
The VB collection’s Eye Kajal is hands down the best eye pencil/ kajal I have in my collection. It’s literally amazing both appearance- and performance- wise.
The Victoria Beckham Eye Kajal is a dual ended pencil. One one side you have Vanille, a shade that’s close to the colour of the skin and worn inside the water line can give the illusion of a bigger eye. I don’t use that one so much as I like a dark shade inside my water line. On the other side of the pencil though, you have Saphir, a blackened blue which I love.
There are another two shades, Java (a brown) and Black Saffron (a black).
But it’s not about the shades in this case! It’s the quality! These VB Eye Kajals are very very soft and incredibly pigmented! Inside the waterline, they stay put until removed and they’re super waterproof! I wore Saphir while swimming and it didn’t go anywhere! Brief comparison to my other Holy Grails: The VB Eye Kajals are superior to the Marc Jacobs Highliners (not as soft and less long-lasting; by the way, I cannot believe I’m saying that!) and closer to the Aqua XL liners, but even more pigmented! If any of you has encountered a formula like this, please let me know. It’s the only one that has blown my mind so far, as apart from MUFE and MJ eyeliners, everything else has no hope inside my waterline.
So, these were my picks from the collection! All in all, pretty happy with everything, with the most tricky item is the Blonde Gold Eye Foil. As I can make this work well for me, especially when used in the inner corner, I cannot complain. And I’m head over heels with the kajals, as you might have guessed! To add to that, the packaging of these products is true luxury. The whole collection can be purchased at Selfridges, online and in-store.
