Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and recharged your batteries! It’s a moody Monday here in London and it feels more like November than end of April. One of my New Year Resolutions was to stop moaning about the weather and, even if I’m trying hard to stick to it, today I’m annoyed at how grey everything is. And what do I do when British weather goes moody in the spring? I go for as summer a make-up look as I can, even if I wear woolly clothes and boots! I’ve already introduced and swatched the entire Dior Care & Dare Summer 2017 Collection for you here. Let’s now have a closer look at my picks.
Dior Care & Dare Summer 2017 – nude air luminizer Serum (£40)
When I saw that Dior launched a limited edition bronze liquid highlighter, I was so curious to try it and see how it performs. And, thankfully, this one delivers. It is a hybrid of make-up and skincare, so not only does it give you a sun kissed glow, but also nourishes your skin with its hydrating oils. I cannot testify as to my skin having changed since I first used the Dior Nude Air Luminizer, as it’s only been a week or so, however, it leaves my skin exceptionally soft and hydrated. It’s also a dream to apply! It blends seamlessly into the skin and after it’s melted into its surface, it leaves a soft bronzy glow and feels velvety to the touch.
The Dior Nude Air Luminizer is housed in a glass bottle and, albeit heavy, feels luxurious. There is a dropper as you open the bottle to help you measure the amount you use. I find three drops are enough for the entirety of my face and one drop satisfies my need for glow on my cheek bones. A little goes a long way, so, if you decide to check this out, remember less is more. It can be worn underneath or mixed with your foundation, or just locally where you’d normally use your highlighter.
There are two shades of the Dior Nude Air Luminizer and I went for the lightest 003. I’m reattaching the swatches here for your convenience.
Dior Care & Dare Summer 2017 – the lipsticks! (£26,50)
Fans of Dior Addict lipsticks, you can definitely get excited! For me, the Care & Dare Dior Addict lipsticks were possibly the best part of the collection. I literally wanted them all (!) but settled for two in the end, Soft Pink and Pure Peach. They are a delight to hold and to wear!
Well, to say that soft pink is a shade you won’t find anywhere else would be a lie. Still, it’s a great rosy pink that us, girls with olive-medium complexion, should be thankful for. I love the shade and I’m sure it would look fantastic on most skin tones.
Pure Peach is a coral really, so a peach which is leaning more pink than orange. On me, this one pulls more neutral and is less pigmented. It’s a softer shade, but I love how I can pop it on every day and compliment any make-up look.
Let’s have a look at the two shades in context:
All Dior Addict Lipsticks are very moisturising and these are no exception. They may feel light on my lips but they provide tons of care and make them feel soft. My dry lips are ever so thankful for such formulations. Containing nourishing oils and vitamin E, Dior Addict lipsticks combine the properties of a balm with the effect of a luminous, relatively sheer lipstick. Highly recommended!
DIOR CARE & DARE SUMMER 2017 – Dior vernis (£19,50)
Last but not least, I picked one out of the three nail varnishes released by Dior for Summer 2017. Those who know me wouldn’t be surprised that it had to be the white one, 002 Optic White.
Optic White is not your regular white… it contains very fine micro shimmer and as such it gives nails such luminosity! I bet it will be amazing under the sun in the summer and I can already imagine the glow that’ll peak through the drops of sea water. Dreaming of sea water and sun and the beach now… mmm!
If you haven’t checked out the Dior Vernis in general, you should really give it a chance. It’s fantastic and the formulation is super long-lasting. I love the top coat as well, as it can make any nail varnish last a good 6 days on my nails! Optic white is great quality although I’d love to test it when my nails are a bit longer too and see how it lasts then.

All in all, I am very happy with my purchases. This is a collection that wasn’t what I would expect from Dior in its entirety, however, I can vouch for the products I purchased. The highlighter, lipsticks and nail varnishes (whatever shade you go for), are worth the price point and to form part of your collection. This is the look I wore on my birthday:
Any glow you see on my face is thanks to the Dior Nude Air Luminizer which managed to brighten a mostly dull day, weather-wise (the bit of sun in the photo was the exception!). To add to the glow, I have Soft Pink on my lips. As for the rest of the look, my foundation is just my moisturiser mixed with the Clinique BIY Pigment i n 115 (review here) and I created a golden eye look with a pop of colour with a purple liner (yes, you guessed right, it’s again the Marc Jacobs Matte Highliner, reviewed here). I posted the eye look on Instagram and you guys seemed to like it a lot, so thanks for your lovely comments! My bronzer is the limited edition Marc Jacobs Coconut Bronzer in Tan-Tastic (reviewed here) and my mascara is Le Volume by Chanel.
Happy with my picks! Much as I found some of this Dior Care & Dare Collection to not meet my expectations, I’m so glad I picked up the right items for me.
The Dior Care & Dare Collection is limited edition for summer 2017 and is now available at your local Dior counter. You can have a look at the entire collection on the official Dior website.
