Summer Makeup: Rouge’n’Apples x Charlotta Eve

Hello my beauties! This is the first post of July and it’s a very special one! Being in the middle of summer, to share a Summer Makeup look is an obvious part of a beauty blogger’s agenda, but to have it designed by another gorgeous beauty blogger, makes the whole exercise much more interesting, don’t you think? Here goes a summery makeup look designed by Charlotta Eve for Rouge’n’Apples!

the look

Charlotta and I thought it’d be great fun to collaborate and come up with the perfect summer makeup for one another, and then recreate it for you all! We do look rather different: I’m a Greek brunette with brown eyes and she’s a Finnish blonde, with blue eyes. So what works for summer, understandably, has to take that into consideration! I had a fab time ‘bringing to life’ her description of a look for me, which, as you might have guessed from the photo above, includes bronze/ coral tones with a bright eyelid and a flick liner!

When I think about a fun colour for my lids, it’s either yellow or orange. As I’ve used gold and yellow tones a couple of times before (for example, here), I thought I’d go for orange this time!

Hello orange! On my lids and on my dress :)!

And a closer look:

Orange eyeshadow looks so good paired with some brown! And how gorgeous is this flower?!

Much as I had fun playing with orange, it’s closer to my comfort zone than other colours. Thinking about Charlotta’s suggestion, she’d mention yellow or lime green and my Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette, which I used for my orange eye look, had a satin lime green! So, I thought I’d give this a shot too and see what happens!

And here goes the lime green!

Gosh, that was the definition of bright! Loved wearing this shade. If you’re reading Rouge’n’Apples, you’ll know that I avoid green normally (excluding khaki which I love). However, I’m now thankful to Charlotta for suggesting lime green; it’s a gorgeous summer shade for us brown-eyed girls and one I wouldn’t have tried before out of habit.

execution and products used

Both of the looks above are exactly the same. Their only difference is the orange vs lime green eyeshadow. Here go the products I used and for those ones I’ve written reviews on, just click on their names to find out more!

The heat is Greece doesn’t allow for much concealer or foundation, so I kept my base light and luminous.

Foundation: I used my Holy Grail Mac Face and Body in C3, mixed with Mac’s Pro Longwear in NC37 (in sample pots above-convenient for travelling!)

Concealer: Mac’s Matchmaster, shade 2. I’ve only used a light layer underneath my eyes.

Bronzer: Mac’s Baiana Bronzer. I didn’t contour, just bronzed on my cheeks, forehead and neck. This is a gorgeous matte bronzer.

Blush: Bobbi Brown, Santa Barbara Illuminating Bronzing Powder. Dusted on my cheekbones lightly. It’s a shimmery coral shade.

Highlighter: Becca Prosecco Pop. It’s an amazing golden highlighter with imperceivable shimmer. I dusted it on top of my cheekbones, underneath the brow bone and on my cupid’s bow.

Lipstick: Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess Summer Lip Glow in 2. Gotta love that semi-metallic-pink-almost-rose-gold-gorgeous sheen it gives my lips. Yes please.

Eyes: I used Urban Decay’s Full Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette for both eye looks. The orange/lime green shades went in the middle of my eyelid and in the centre of my lower lash line. I toned down the intensity with Benefit’s They’re Real Duo Shadow Blender in Bombshell Brown. Then, I used the darker shade of the duo in my outer corner and the second half of my lower lash line. For the green look, I also used it above the highlighter in my inner corner, while for the orange look I used the bronze eyeshadow from the UD palette in my inner corner. I blended all shades together before applying the wing liner (Bobbi Brown Ink Liner in Blackest Black). My mascara is Monsieur Big by Lancome (2 coats).

I definitely want to try the lime green eye look with a Khaki eyeliner… should look fab!

working together is fun!

So that’s my interpretation of Charlotta’s summer makeup look for me! What do you think? I love this makeup for the summer and I think it’s particularly beautiful on tanned skin. You’re not done yet though: Pop over to Charlotta Eve to see how my makeup look idea worked for her!

For those that haven’t come across Charlotta’s blog as yet, she’s an international beauty and lifestyle blogger based in Finland and a professional cosmetologist. Her posts are all about lifestyle, makeup and skincare and I’m always taken aback by her creativity! She’s a real beauty inspiration and such a fun girl too! Have a look at her Instagram too and, if you like good photography, you should definitely give her a follow!

And… working together is fun! Send me an email at rougenapples@gmail.com, if you’d like to collaborate with me in the future! Rougenapples is an international blog and I write from either somewhere in Greece or the UK most of the time (and laud or complain about the weather depending on where I am). Look forward to hearing from you and a huge thanks to Charlotta for this collaboration!

I hope you enjoyed this post! What’s your go-to summer makeup? And would there be any particular makeup looks you’d like me to try? Let me know in the comments!

Hugs from Greece!

  2. That looks so much fun, Eleni! I’m also loving the lime green on you! And now I’m kinda regretting not getting the Baiana Bronzer :P.
Actually we’ve been wanting to ask if you’d like to do a collaboration with us, but our schedule had been crazy the past weeks (hence I couldn’t comment much on your blog/ig anymore 🙁 ). But definitely planning on it! Feel free to reach out to us if you’ve an idea as well!
Astrid recently posted…Our summery beauty favourites in June (and fave treats!)

    1. Hi Astrid, thanks for stopping by lovely and no worries at all! Life can get so busy, I’m in a phase like that myself with a new job and lots other changes going on. Thankfully on holiday now, as I was having 14 hour days! I’d love to collaborate with you, it would be so much fun. Will reach out after I’m back from holiday and let’s do something when it works for all three 🙂 💕😘

  3. I think the lime green looks amazing on you! This was a really fun post to read, I’ll pop over to Charlotta’s blog too. I think glitter eyeliner would look really good on you! I think we’re similar in eye and skin colour, I bet bold lips look really good on you too xx

    1. You see, I somehow don’t go with bold lips much, because I’m an eyes girl more, but I want to change that come this autumn! I love glitter Liner, will post a look with that soon xxx

  4. Hi dear Eleni! You look wonderful with the peach make up look & outfit. I have the same palette by Urban Decay..it is so versatile! Have a serene day. Smuack

  5. I loved the concept behind this collab. Your blogs are two of my favourites so I was excited to see what you both came up with.

These colours suit you so well and I love how you interpreted her idea! Such lovely looks. I love the pop of lime green especially.

I was a bit scared by the brightness of that palette but now I’m wishing I had it!
