Happy June my beauties! I’m back! I took a small break as you might have seen on my Instagram (come and say hi, I post rather frequently there), as hubby and I were tangoing in Edinburgh (isn’t Scotland beautiful)? In any case, among all of the travelling and work related things, summer is indeed here! I’ve reviewed a few summer collections already (for example, here, here and here), but one that I always look for every summer is the the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Collection, and in particular the Bronze Goddess Shimmering Oil Spray, which is a personal favourite!
ESTÉE LAUDER BRONZE GODDESS SHIMMERING BODY OIL
I’ll keep this short and sweet. If you like oils and semi sweet, floral scents that mix with the natural scent the sea leaves in our skin, you need this in your life. I’ve been wearing the Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil for three years now and it’s even in my wedding photos because that’s what I wore on my wedding day, the day after, during our honeymoon and all of last summer! I love it that much.
I have to admit that when the weather is warm, I don’t like wearing perfume. This means that a scented oil is perfect for me in the summer. If this is ever launched without the shimmer, I would be sure to bathe myself in it daily. I use it in my hair and body, sometimes I mix it with my body cream because it’s so hydrating. I have it with me, next to my sunscreen, when I go to the beach. If you are going on holiday this year, take it with and try it after having a swim. Even as you’re sunbathing. You’ll love it. It’s mostly a floral fragrance but mixed with fruit oils, which make it special for me (I love fruity scents in the summer- could I smell of peach, coconut or watermelon all the time?)!
In the picture above you can see Bronze Goddess Shimmering Oil from 2017 (right bottle) and the one in the middle is from 2015. In 2016, the company released on with pink glitter particles (First one on the left below).
This year the container is a little longer than usual – we actually get an extra 5ml, as compared to the years before. The shimmer is gold, same as 2015. However, there is more shimmer in the bottle and I find that the scent is a little stronger, so a little goes a long way. I preferred the more subtle 2015 version, but the difference is really not much.
You may notice that the 2015 version of the Oil is a bit more liquid-like. The shimmer is barely noticeable but it does add luminosity, which is great. The Bronze Goddess Oil retails for £36 for 50 ml, but House of Fraser have a small discount right now and you can find it for £32.50.
THE REST OF THE ESTÉE LAUDER BRONZE GODDESS COLLECTION
There are a few more scented items in the collection, such as the body cream and the actual Bronze Goddess perfume (which I’m not a fan of, even if I love the oil). However, as is the case every year, there is also a highlighter, bronzer and a couple of lipsticks. Combined together, they give you a sun kissed, glowy look.
Frankly, I have stocked up on highlighters and bronzers, so I skipped both this time (although the powder/gel highlighter is irresistible!) Here go the swatches:
For those interested, this bronzer contains shimmer. Not much, but it’s there and I dont find that this adds luminosity to the skin, if I’m honest. It sits on top of the skin and as it wasn’t the softest to the touch either, I don’t find it special. It retails for £34 and there are four shades, the one above being medium deep. The Illuminating Powder Gelee highlighter though is a pigmented golden perfection! Look at this swatch:
You need to be brave to resist that one! The texture is a soft powder that on the skin looks like a gel highlighter. It retails for £34 and you get 7gr. Thumbs up for it intensity! In addition, there are also two Summer Lip Glow Lipsticks. These add a soft bronze sheen and feel fantastic on my lips, but don’t expect rich pigment.
A this is how Sunblush looks on my lips:
I’m a fan of the Bronze Goddess range by Estée Lauder, especially that Shimmering Oil. If you want to splurge more, the Illuminating Powder Gelee is worth it, as might be the lipsticks for the lovers of sheer colour for summer.
It’s rather confusing where this has launched in the UK. House of Fraser say its exclusive to them till June 1st. I found it in John Lewis though as well, including a limited edition Summer palette which they’ve launched for this summer alongside with the rest of the collection – but online, for now, they only seem to have the bronzer. You can also keep an eye on the official website.
Any of these products catch your eye? What perfume/ scent do you like wearing in the summer months?
Thank you for reading and I will see you soon!
