Hello beautiful! This is Eleni reporting from Greece! I was fortunate enough to be able to spend most of this fine spring month back home in Athens this year and you cannot imagine how grateful I am. I, therefore, promise there will be no moaning about the weather for the next three weeks or so; you know, for a change ;). The sun is wonderful here and I’m going crazy with my bronzer, trying to look like I got a “British” tan of some sort (while, as you’d expect, I’m at my palest)! Thankfully, I remembered to take with me a bronzer which I know I can rely on: the Guerlain Terracotta Sun Trio for Summer 2017. A new launch which isn’t just a pretty item; it really *works*!
Whenever I think of Guerlain, the first two words that come to mind are: bronzer and powder. And to make it more specific, Terracotta and Meteorites, which, for me, are the brand’s two staple products. And, I have to admit, much as I love my Bobbi Brown or Mac bronzers, I think that no brand does bronzer like Guerlain! It’s like there is a magic recipe and Guerlain just has it!
For Summer 2017, the brand launched three Terracotta Sun Trio Bronzing and Contouring Palettes in three different shades: Light, Natural (Medium) and Deep. The packaging is gorgeous: dark brown turning bronze brown in light with the Guerlain logo shining through the lid. It’s lightweight and a beauty to hold.
Once opened, we get three different shades inside: a light shade which can work as a matte highlighter, a warm-toned bronze shade which is the actual bronzer and a cooler toned shade which can be used for contouring.
I’ll keep it sweet and short for you guys, because indeed there is not much to say… The Guerlain Summer 2017 Terracotta Sun Trio is simply one of the best bronzers out there: it’s matte but looks soft and luminous on the skin, it’s buttery soft to touch, blends like a dream and it doesn’t look orange on my skin. On top of all of that, you can use the shades separately to sculpt and bronze your face, or altogether for a sun-kissed look. If you get a bit of colour, not a problem. Just use a bit more of the darker shade. We’re talking about quality and versatility. An exquisite product!
I’m in love with these Guerlain bronzers! It’s even love that can’t be hidden, as I got two out of the three shades available. Still, I’m now done for bronzers till next year! For now, that I’m not tanned, Light (Clair) is perfect for my NC30 skin. I also purchased Natural (Naturel, the medium shade) for when I actually tan.
On a bit of a side-note, Guerlain have also put in something you wouldn’t expect to see at a makeup counter that often: stenciling! They stick a rather cute little round sticker on your hand before putting on a product – which means you get to see the effect both before and after blending has happened when it’s peeled off. You’ll see what I mean in the swatches below.
I hope you can see you well the shade Fair works for my skin tone as it is now. By the way, the colour of my skin is the circle in the middle and the darker tone around is the bronzer. Let’s have a look at Natural too:
I expect this shade to be perfect for me when I tan (I can get to NC40, depending on the year). I can wear it now but need to be light handed or avoid the darker shade in the pan. Again, my skin is the circle in the middle and the bronzer is around it.
And here is a swatch for the deep shade:
I hope the swatches are helpful for you. All in all, if you’re on the market for a bronzer, then the Guerlain Summer 2017 Terracotta Sun Trio is a good option. Only thing to bear in mind is that these are scented. Since I bought mine, I’ve been using them everyday and I have to admit, I prefer them to the Marc Jacobs Coconut bronzer I reviewed a few weeks ago.
Here’s the Guerlain Terracotta Sun Trio in shade Light (Clair) on my cheeks:
As you can see, it gives me the perfect amount of warmth. Just what I need. On my eyes, I have the Urban Decay Golden Griot Palette from the Basquiat Collection and on my lips I have Abstract from the same collection (review here).
The Guerlain Terracotta Sun Trio bronzers retail for 40 GBP and you can now find them at your local Guerlain counter or check them out online here.
What is your favourite bronzer? Looks like I now have a Holy Grail one! By the way, I’ve seen reviews saying that the Terracotta Sun Trio are limited edition for Summer 2017. However, I was told by the Guerlain make-up artist that they’ll join the permanent line. Needless to say, I’m glad they will!
Have a lovely rest of the week my dears and speak to you soon!
