Hello there! I hope you all enjoyed this beautiful May weekend and recharged your batteries! I’m a happy bunny because I’m flying to Greece tomorrow and will be spending sometime with family (under the sun!) before a very busy summer starts! I think I took a lot of make-up with me this time, including a couple of items that I picked up from the NARS Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection, swatches of which are included in this post! For a review and eyelooks, please click here. In general, it’s a gorgeous collection!
The NARS Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection celebrates what I call “clean” beauty with impact, in line with Charlotte’s personal stylistic preferences. British-French actress and singer, Charlotte Gainsbourg loves looking as natural as possible and her make-up reflects her relaxed personality. Francois Nars, describesew her as cool and authentic, or simply, very French. Consequently, the products in this collection are ideal for replicating this “natural” look: expect sheer skin, with more impact coming from the eyes, because all women love to rock a smokey eye or a smudged liner! Let’s have a look at the swatches!
eyes – NARS Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection
To start with, there are two eyeshadow duos in the NARS Charlotte Gainsbourg collection. And it being typical Nars, we don’t get any bronzes or golds as we’d expect! We get to choose between dark green and dark blue, shades which we could say are more autumnal. I love how unconventional Nars can be. So fresh, so unique and so worth the wait each time!
Housed in dark green packaging (see photo above please), rather than the usual black, we have the Rue Allent and Old Church Street Eyeshadow Duos (£25):
I have reviewed both eyeshadow duos and created eye looks for you here, but they swatched wonderfully! There are also three liners (£19 each) to compliment the Eyeshadow Duos:
skin – NARS summer 2017 Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection
Moving onto the skin products, Nars launched three Multiple Tints for this collection (£29). These are sheer tints, that can be used on cheeks, lips even lids! The shades aim at giving your cheeks this naturally rosy look, the colour you get when you’ve been running. There are three shades, a pink one for fair skin tones, a red one for medium skin tones (should be ok for darker ones too) and a plum one for deeper skin tones:
The swatches above are heavy, so you can imagine how sheer these are. Very different from the Multiples in the permanent line.
And what we’ve all been waiting for, Nars came up with a new base product, the Hydrating Glow Tint (£25)! It comes is four shades and it’s a sheer base, so your natural skin tone will show through it. Here go the swatches of the three shades:
My shade is medium. There is also a dark medium shade which wasn’t available when I visited my local Nars counter. The Nars Hydrating Tint feels quite thick and creamy and definitely evens your skin tone, but it’s very sheer. In my view, that’s great for the summer, but I’m not sure how good it is with oil control and whether it’s suitable for oilier skin types. In case you need more coverage, you can always combine this with your concealer (comparison of the the Nars Creamy Radiant and the new Soft Matte Concealer here, in case you’re interested in one from the same brand).
lips – NARS Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection for summer 2017
There are three lip glosses (£22), designed to give your lips a natural, glossy finish. For me, these are designed to match light, medium and deeper skin tones too, so bear this in mind if you want to follow the “your lips but better” message of this collection. Of course, you can wear any shade and achieve a dark/ nude glossy lip, if you so desire!
I think that Double Decker (rosy shade) would be my lips but better and regret not getting it! But one has to show strength sometimes, right? 😉
other items in this collection
There is a set of wonderful, limited edition, brushes which you can check out here. These are beautifully soft but not available everywhere. I think I saw them at the Nars Boutique in Covent Garden, so maybe worth checking there, if you live in London!
You can now have a look at the Nars Portrait of an Artist, in this case, Charlotte Gainsbourg Collection online here. I see there are a couple of online exclusives there too, however, if you prefer to swatch the collection, it is now available at your local Nars counter and it will be for the rest of the summer.
Are you eyeing anything from the Nars Summer 2017 Collection? What would your picks be, if any?
Hope you have a lovely start of the week and I’ll speak to you soon!
