Foundation Series: New Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation; Review and Swatches!

Yes, yes, yay for Friday but bigger yay for the long May weekend! What are everyone’s plans? We are definitely taking it easy and I’m looking forward to going shopping for flowers! I will post pictures on Instagram as and when I fill the flat with flowers everywhere, to welcome May in the most colourful way possible. It’s also a foundation Friday here in RougenApples’ land! I can’t wait to speak to you about a new launch by Chanel that got me so excited; the brand new Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation!

The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation; Packaging and formulation

The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation is housed in an elegant compact which is light weight to hold and have in your beauty bag. It follows the design and colour theme of the rest of the Les Beiges collection, the top of it being beige and the rest black. Upon opening the compact, we find a sponge and a protective foundation seal. When we open that, we find the gel foundation in what resembles a cushion form.

To add to the superb quality of packaging, the actual foundation is a dream. To start with, it’s a water- gel formula, so expect it to be very light. It’s mostly a water based foundation (56% of it is actually water!) which feels wonderfully cooling upon application and leaves the skin hydrated, thanks to its hyaluronic acid and Kalanchoe extracts. It’s got SPF 25 which is great for the summer months.

I’m not a fan of very dewy foundations as they just slide off my face. The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation is subtly dewy; I’d say in a luminous way rather than shiny. Thumbs up for this. You can apply it with a brush (Channel suggest their own brush, but my Bobbi Brown foundation brush is equally great – Just go for something that’ll allow you to blend and work the product into the skin.) For more coverage, you can tap onto any areas of concern with the sponge which is included. Beware, this Chanel Gel foundation contains perfume. However, I don’t mind as it smells delicious and the scent doesn’t last long at all.

Coverage is light to medium and it’s buildable, but I would not advise you to build it too much, especially if you don’t set it with powder and you’re a bit oily. I suspect it’s a good foundation for dry to normal/combination skin but not for the very oily of you.

Swatches and shades

The Chanel Les Beiges Gel Touch Foundation is available in eight shades in the UK. Most of them are beige as opposed to pink based. I was matched to N40.

However much I may love Chanel foundations, I find them to be either too pink or too peach. To my surprise and as you can see in the swatch above, the new gel touch foundation matched my skin pretty well! It’s still a bit more peachy than I like, but it’s a reasonable match, considering the shade range isn’t massive anyway.

I swatched most of the other shades for you:

From left to right we have N40, N30, N20 and N10. N40 matches my NC30 skin well. For NC40 you’ll need N50 and N60 is pretty dark. I hope Chanel brings out more shades.

FOTD with the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation

Let’s have a look now at how brightening and glowy this foundation is on me.

Although it doesn’t cover all of my imperfections, it brightens my skin and blurs my pigmentation. I only powder this around my nose and then it lasts a good 6 hours on me before I get oily and I blot or reapply. If I don’t do so, then it fades off from my face around the 8 hour mark.

I love its finish so much that I would give it Holy Grail Status if it lasted a little longer and was a bit more yellow based. But that’s the only foundation that has come close to Holy Grail status for a long time! Its effect and light to medium, natural coverage are just *beautiful*! I love wearing it.

In the photo above you can see how it looks in pure day light. Isn’t it wonderfully luminous? This new Chanel foundation is also gentle on my skin, it did not give me one pimple! If you’re wondering what’s on my eyes, it’s the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Glow Instant Look in a Palette and on my lips it’s the new Dior Addict lipstick in Soft Pink (from the Care & Dare Collection).

Conclusion

I love the new Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation by Chanel. If your skin isn’t oily and you like a lightweight foundation for the summer, with reasonable coverage that’s brightening and cooling on your skin, do check this out! For now, it’s solidly in my beauty bag and not going anywhere! I prefer it to the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Cushion Compact (reviewed here), which launched very recently too and I, anyway, like a lot. The Chanel one is a less good colour match for me but offers a less dewy finish which I prefer.

The Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation can be purchased for 43GBP at your local Chanel counter or online here.

What are your thoughts on this foundation? Will you check it out?

Hope you have a great start to this long weekend and speak to you soon!

Hugs!

    I.Need.This.

I need to check again if it’s already available for purchase at my normal store. N30 looks too light even for me and N40 seems a touch too dark, is there anything in between?

I thought you’d like this one 😊. There isn’t anything in between N30 and N40 that’s beige in the U.K. They have a couple of pink shades, but these were not displayed here. In other countries, I’ve seen ten shades available, so check what the case is with Canada? Look forward to your thoughts on this!

The foundation sounds amazing! Also it looks great on you :). I might check if N60 would be dark enough for me!

If you find the right shade for you and you’re not oily, you’ll enjoy it! Welcome back Astrid! 😘

Thank you! Well I swatched the N60 when I passed a Chanel counter earlier today. I think it might work on my tanned skin! It’s 55€ over here though… maybe I better plan a trip to London and shop there instead 😜.

Good Lord, that’s pricey. In Greece I never got Chanel because it’s never below sixty euros more or less…! Although even in gbp it’s not the cheapest of all even at the higher price point… xxx

I love how it gives natural medium coverage, I never liked full coverage for my face, I find that it looks rather fake on me but medium coverage is what I am looking for.Great review Eleni 🙂 Have a lovely weekend xx

The foundation looks amazing on you! I am such a big fan of light formulas – I break out from anything that’s too heavy. I need to check this out.

Although I’m not the biggest fan of compact foundations, I think it’s just the packaging to be honest, this foundation sounds amazing! It also looks really amazing on you. I will check this out. xo

Thanks for the great review and photos. It looks beautiful on you. Would you happen to have a full ingredient list or know which sunscreens are included in this?

    • rougenapples May 5, 2017 — Post Author

      Hi Gail,
Thanks for stopping by. I’ve updated the post with the full ingredients’ list. If you scroll down you will find it. Thank you for pointing this out, I normally include ingredients but this time I forgot!

Thanks so much. That’s a huge help. Since my skin can’t tolerate octinoxate I will have to pass on this.

You don’t need much coverage, Eleni! I am absolutely in love with the finish of this one, and it actually stays on all day for me!
