Happy Sunday beautiful people! I hope you’re all having a sunny, in whatever way this might be interpreted- literal or not- Sunday! As usual it’s Swatch Sunday here @RougenApples and I couldn’t but introduce a beautiful and original collection by Tom Ford that launched recently in Selfridges. Here’s the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Lips and Cheeks Collection for Spring 2017!
Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Lips and Cheeks – the cheek colour duos
The Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Lips and Cheeks collection includes two cheek palettes with one highlighter and a blush. They’re both in cream form and they feel beautiful to the touch. They provide fuss-free application on the skin and you can blend them to nothing for a very soft look or build them up according to the effect you wish to achieve. Tip: If you place the product where you want to achieve more impact and blend the edges you can get a blushed from within look, with only one application. This contain no glitter, but due to their creamy formulation, they give you a glowy finish. If your skin is very oily, you might want to powder on top to achieve longevity.
Sublimate is a rose pink blush with a very natural, beige tan highlighter.
Scintillate is a warm peach with a champaign highlighter. When I tried this on, it was barely visible on my NC30 complexion, so I guess more suited to lighter skin tones.
These cheek duos remind me of the Bobbi Brown Cheek Glow Palettes released earlier this year (reviewed here). Apart from the fact that both BB and TF are part of the Estee Lauder Group of companies, therefore some ideas might just be shared, I have to say that I found the BB duos more pigmented. The TF ones though are great quality too.
Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Lips and Cheeks – the lip colour duos
To add to the cream blush options, there are six lip duos or lipsticks in the form of a two lip colour palette. These are creamy and quite long-lasting. I left Selfridges wearing one and it felt nourishing on my lips. It lasted around 4 hours with light snacking and drinking, which is great for my dry lips. Let’s have a look at the swatches.
These are the three more vibrant shades. I have to admit, Possession is my favourite duo! Such a sweet rosy shade, perfect for spring/summer. Tantalise leans peachy and beige, whereas Nikita is a dark plum, combined with a gorgeous red. There are another three duos though:
These are the most neutral or nude shades. Impulse provides more impact than Automatic for medium skin tones but they’re both very natural shades. And last but not least we have…
… Saboteur! This duo deserved a swatch of its own as it’s the darkest one. In line with current trends for dark berry lips, this is Tom Ford’s answer to a spring combination: a dark plum with a fuchsia.
With these Tom Ford Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate duos, you can mix and match as your heart desires! You can wear the colours individually or layer them on top of one another. For example, you can put the highlighter on top of the blush to soften it or the lighter lip shades on top of the darker ones to add more light. You can even apply the darker lip shade all over your lips and the lighter one in the centre, for an ombre effect, which is one of the current trends. Feel free to play around!
These can be swatched at Selfridges as we speak, or if something caught your eye you can purchase online from the Selfridges website. The Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Lips and Cheeks retail for £44 and £58 respectively. Generally, Tom Ford products are truly high quality and you get tons of products, which at least justifies the higher price point. I don’t own many lipsticks but I love the cream eyeshadows and the foundation stick (I’ve reviewed it here), so these are truly tempting! I’m seriously eyeing Possession and Nikita!
Did anything catch your eye? Have you invested in any of these duos? For that matter, do you like the so called ombre effect?
Hope you all have a lovely start of the week tomorrow and I’ll speak to you again soon!
