The Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl luxury eyeshadow palette- review and swatches!

Hello my dears! How are you all? I’m sorry I haven’t posted for a few days, but I have been really unwell. I caught a nasty cold, which I still haven’t recovered from, and this meant that I had to postpone my flight back to London for next week and fall behind with lots of things. In any case, I hope you enjoy reading this review of the Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl eyeshadow palette. I’m a massive fan of Charlotte Tilbury make-up and, more specifically, her eyeshadow quads. They’re all really good quality and I consider some of them to be a must-have for my make-up collection.

The Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl eyeshadow palette

Charlotte’s eyeshadow quads consist of four eyeshadows that, combined in the right way, promise to take you from “desk to dusk to disco”. This simply means that you can achieve as soft or as intense a look as you like. In any quad, you will find:

  1. A Prime Shade: to be used as a base. CT Prime shades are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Sometimes, I just pop a prime shade on my lid, a bit of liner and mascara and I’m out of the door. This type of shade not only preps your lids for smoother application of the darker shades on top, but also acts like a fantastic highlighting shade. It’s a brightening and illuminating type of eyeshadow without being glittery!
  2. An Enhance Shade: to be used in your crease and outer corner for definition in a day time look or as a transition shade in a more intense look.
  3. A Smoke Shade: to be used as a liner or in the outer corner for an evening look or … in any way you want so that you can create a high impact eye look. This is the darkest shade in the palette.
  4. A Pop Shade: to be used as your centre of the lid (or all over the lid) glitter!

THE Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl QUAD

The Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl eyeshadow quad is inspired by women of the cities who stroll around busy streets in elegance. I’d say the hues are relatively urban, don’t you think? It’s a grey-taupe type of colour theme with silver glitter. I love it!

From top to bottom: Smoke, Enhance, Prime and Pop shades

In the Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl quad, the Smoke shade is matte brown-grey, the enhance shade is a soft satin taupe-grey and the Prime shade is a satin champaign. The Pop shade is pure silver glitter. All of them are buttery soft, blend beautifully and last the whole day on me. A super high quality quad indeed.

my take on the Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl look (using the quad)

Charlotte’s eyeshadow quads correspond to different looks which can be achieved by using products from the rest of her line too. You can find the Uptown Girl look tutorial by Charlotte here.

She pairs the quad with rosy pink cheeks and a coral pink lip. It looks beautiful and I have tried it in the past and really liked it. However, I sometimes find that the Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl palette looks more urban with beige-nude tones on me. I wore this look some days ago and really enjoyed it, so I wanted to share it with you. Let’s focus on the eyes to start with:

Me wearing the Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl eyeshadow palette for a morning in town

My aim was a medium to low intensity eye look, suitable for a morning in town: bright lids and inner corner with more emphasised upper and lower lash lines. Can you see how brightening that Prime shade is? I know I said it before, but I really like it!

For the rest of the look, I opted for the Hepburn Honey KISSING lipstick, which is a beige nude on me. On my cheeks I have a bit of bronzer and the bronzy shade (Takeover) from the NARSissist Cheek palette.

Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl – my version

My hair is having a moment in this picture, because of the wind! I didn’t dial up this look for the evening, but I’ve done so in the past using this palette. The best way to do it, in my view, is to wear a darker base underneath and go for a glittery graduated smokey eye. It was rather pretty when I tried it, but don’t have any pictures of that day to share with you unfortunately.

All Charlotte Tilbury quads retail at £39 on Charlotte’s website, her Covent Garden Boutique, or at Selfridges and Fenwick. It’s pricey, but so worth it. I own around 5 of her quads and they’re all unique. I’m thinking about reviewing the other ones in my collection too- do you think that would be useful? Let me know, if so :).

Do you have any Charlotte Tilbury luxury eyeshadow palettes? Do you own Uptown Girl? If you do, how do you enjoy wearing the respective look?

Hope you have a great weekend and speak again soon!
