Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks in Matte Revolution and K.I.S.S.I.N.G are rocking my world!

Hello guys! Hope you’re all having a fabulous day. Oh, how I love Thursdays; we’re so close to the weekend! Although, being on holiday, I shouldn’t complain *cough, cough*. We are going to be talking about a favourite topic of mine today. Lipstick! I promised that I would review and swatch all Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks in my collection for you and I finally got round to doing so. Let’s get ready for some seriously beautiful colours!

Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks: the rose gold packaging is simply beautiful!

If you’re familiar with Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, you’ll know that formulation-wise they’re divided into two categories: Matte Revolution and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. The former are described and marketed as modern, luminous matte and the latter as moisturising and creamy. As such, I will structure the post around these two categories.

Matte revolution

Charlotte’s Matte Revolution lipsticks are her answer to the matte lip trend that’s been going on for sometime now. In my view, their “luminous matte” description is accurate. Whenever I wear a Matte Revolution lipstick, I definitely end up with a matte lip effect, but one that looks more satin than pure, solid matte. And I love this!

As with most CT products, Matte Revolution lipsticks come with benefits, so that lips feel nourished. They contain a “secret antioxidant” ingredient from the Lipstick Tree and orchid extract in order to prevent dryness and help lips look and feel soft. Matte lip=soft lip is an interesting proposition, isn’t it? I have to admit, most matte lipsticks dry my (already dry!) lips out, but these ones don’t; not to the same extent at least. They aren’t always the most comfortable, especially if I don’t moisturise my lips before application, but they haven’t exacerbated my dryness so far either. Please, keep in mind that my lips can naturally be uncomfortably dry, so I normally opt for super moisturising formulas. The mere fact that I’ve bought a few Matte Revolution lipsticks, which I love wearing, means they’re pretty good for the category they belong in.

Let’s have a look at the shades I have in my collection. I went for shades that suit my NC30 skin well and ones I can combine easily with many different looks:

You have seen me wearing Pillow Talk before here and Very Victoria here. I’ve also reviewed Pillow Talk here. No lip liner used in the pictures above. If I had to choose, Secret Salma would be my favourite. It’s a warm pink berry shade which I love. Bond Girl is more red. Pillow Talk is rose pink and very Victoria is a neutral brown-beige on me.

K.I.S.S.I.N.G

Charlotte’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks are my favourite ones. They are moisturising and although they include similar skincare ingredients to Matte Revolution (Lipstick Tree antioxidants), they also contain waxes for maximum comfort and hydration. They are wonderfully creamy and quite long lasting too (four hours on me without eating)!

Lets have a look at the shades:

No liner used in the pictures above, so the exact colour can show. Stoned Rose pulls off a bit orange, in a beautiful way, while Bitch Perfect and Penelope Pink are nudes. Hepburn Honey is a warm beige. Beautiful shades and so versatile! These all feel great to wear and the magically soften any dryness I might have on my lips which is an added bonus!

Let’s admire the elegance of Charlotte Tilbury packaging once more:

  1. Ha, I love Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks as well! So far I’ve only gotten the mattes: Secret Salma (love the texture but the color was kinda too muted for me) & Miranda May (perfect spring/summer coral for my nc42/44 skin).
I’m curious on how a) Pillow Talk would look like on me (it’s lovely on you!) , b) maybe trying out the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Color. Charlotte Tilbury will finally open a store in Berlin tomorrow, so I might get a color or two :-p.

  2. Oooooh! Enjoy tomorrow! Maybe try Bond Girl from Matte Revolution (if you already haven’t) and Stoned Rose from K.I.S.S.I.N.G? Saying that, there are a few good berries and reds, if you like that sort of colour. I’m NC30 and Valentine’s washed me out so bad that I didn’t go near again, but Pillow Talk was just fine. Think it’ll look more of a pinky nude on you? I’m curious too now!! If you have a free second at all, do let me know what it looks like on you when you try it. I’d love to know what you liked from the line in general too :). x

    1. Funny thing is, I just got back from the CT outing and felt like I had to tell you about it :-D. I incidentally got Stoned Rose <3!! Bond Girl was also something I wanted, but the color was possibly too similar to Burberry matte in Redwood (which I also love).
They didn't have Pillow Talk there unfortunately :/.
Another thing I really love from CT is the Eyes to Mesmerise in Veruschka (linking a post in the blog where I wore it).
Do you have other must haves from
      them?

  3. Thank you so much dear 🙂 – I actually wore Pillow Talk this morning and wondered whether you’d go for it! I looove Stoned Rose, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula. Having dry lips, I really like it. They didn’t have Pillow Talk? That’s interesting, seeing as it’s THE shade everyone’s interested in (keeps been sold out in London). I’m sure they’ll have to stock up soon, due to demand.

As for Veruschka – I agree! A must for brown eyes, right? Thanks for linking me to your post, I will comment over there about some extra thoughts I had while reading it. I like Eyes to Mesmerise (have a few shades), but they crease on me unfortunately (oily eyelids), unless over primer. This means I can’t use them as a base, but not a deal breaker for me as the colours are so amazing! Other must haves? I LOVE the Filmstar Bronze and Glow (esp. the Highlight shade, just gorgeous!) and the quads, especially the Golden Goddess one. Have you tried any of the quads?

    1. I guess some stuff are still missing from the display? I didn’t see any Light Glow foundation display… but got to play with their concealer. Looks promising!

I LOVE the texture of K.I.S.S.I.N.G btw! And stoned rose is gorgeous! It’s moisturizing, yet it feels super light on the lips!

Ah, interesting… on me Veruschka holds really well (I thought I had oily lids too, but perhaps Berlin’s dry weather renders it dry). I haven’t tried the eyeshadows yet. Just haven’t been feeling compelled by them at all… I forgot to try out the bronzer / glow thing. That’s also something I need to try in person :D.

      1. I like The Retoucher :). It behaves well for a concealer and it’s my go to these days. Glad you like Stoned Rose – it’s one of my faves too! Oh, Astrid, I’m sure CT cream shadows don’t crease on everyone. I have *particularly difficult eyelids and skin in general. On me, it doesn’t crease over primer. Which is good news! It also won’t crease if I layer it with powder, but what’s the point in doing so? The only cream shadows that never crease on me without primer are the Laura Mercier ones, but as I said, I’m *particularly* difficult. Try Bronze and Glow, I’m sure you’ll love the Highlighter! xx
