Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Highlighting Palette and a walk with me in London!

Hello beautiful people! I hope you are all enjoying your Saturday as much as we are! Amongst other things, we started making a cake at 10pm, realised this cake takes three hours to make and gave up, hehe! No real commitment right? We will give it a go tomorrow though and I will post photos here. It’s a pomegranate cake, so will be quite elaborate. Wish me luck! Leaving pomegranates aside, let’s move onto peaches! I’m excited to review the Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow palette tonight for you. I love Too Faced and their super girly approach to cosmetics is such fun! A palette that gives glow and smells of peaches just calls my name! Let’s see how it performed on me though. 🙂

Thoughts on the Sweet Peach collection:

The hype over the whole Sweet Peach Collection by Too Faced has been phenomenal since its launch. In the UK, we can order online at toofaced.com, or go to the newly renovated Debenhams on Oxford Street to check out the collection in person. And that’s what I did *grins*. There are several items in this collection: the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow palette, the Highlighting Glow palette and some very cute lip glosses…. They all have two things in common: 1) they smell of peaches and 2) they are super cute!!! If you are into cute make up, this collection is for you!

I only picked the Sweet Peach Glow Highlighting Palette, mainly because I didn’t feel that the rest of the collection was a must-have for me. Especially if you compare it to all of these interesting launches that surround us right now. The eyeshadow palette is beautiful  and the shades swatched nicely, but I didn’t feel that I needed it, or would reach out for it as opposed to other things I have.

One thing you already know about this collection, but you have to make sure it sinks in well, is that this is a fragranced collection in its entirety. All products smell of peach. To add to that, there are peaches all over the packaging (admittedly very cute) and the main shade in the Sweet Peach Highlighting palette is as peach as it gets. I’m ok with fragrance and don’t mind cute stuff. I also like peaches. And I get tanned in the summer. I, therefore, thought that the Sweet Peach Glow palette would be a useful one to have, but this won’t be right for ladies that are not fans of fragrance or indeed, peaches!

Thoughts on the Sweet Peach Glow palette:

The Sweet Peach Glow Highlighting Palette promises to give you a peachy glow. It contains a highlighter which I like, a bronzer which I like much less and a blush which is nice enough. To start with, please have a look at the product and swatches below:

You can see from the photos that this palette is faithful to its theme and delivers what it promises. The highlighting shade is beautiful. Layered on top of the blush it does add a beautifully subtle glow to my currently NC30 skin. It’s not too sparkly and you can safely highlight underneath your brow bone and bridge of the nose, if you so wish, as it does not add much colour really. Thumbs up for that. Ticks the glow box nicely.

The blush is a regular peach blush. Pigmented enough but does not compare to my Bobbi Brown or Nars blushes, if I’m brutally honest. I like it though. Its texture is buttery soft and it’s a bright colour, almost pastely, which I *suspect* will be nice when I have a bit of a tan. I can still work with it now as well, so I’m happy enough. Do you need it? Do I need it? Mmmm….

Then, I get to the bronzer in the palette. This one, hands down, is not right for my skin tone, unfortunately. It’s very orange. I’m used to my bronzers adding warmth to my face but my favourite ones (Bobbi Brown, Nars, Chanel) are not orange. This one I can’t see myself reaching out for that much.

When I combined all three shades on my cheeks, I first felt a lot of optimism that the summer is approaching! The result is bright and contrasts with the London weather! Great! This is up lifting and feels good! The overall result is not bad at all either. It’s luminous and pleasant. I’d even go as far as to say cute. But I still don’t like the bronzer and I should say that I’m not sure that once I get tanned, this bronzer will do much on my face.

All in all, a nice palette that you should get your hands on, if:

  1. You love peachy tones on your cheeks and you need/want a complete cheek palette
  2. Love Too Faced and the idea of a girly peachy smelling palette
  3. You don’t mind orange leaning bronzers
  4. If you want to get a good gift for a younger member of your family etc, just getting into make up and trends. I’m sure they’ll love it!

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this palette or the whole collection!

Come to London for a walk with me!

London is a heaven for consumerism and a Saturday in Oxford Street can tell you a lot about that. It’s packed! I thought I’d give you an idea of what it looked like today on the side with the departments stores. It’s funny how they are all concentrated on one side of the street and there is a 3 minute walk (maybe 5?) between them!

Retail in London is really interesting. There is a lot of effort to communicate with the consumers across channels (online, mobile etc) but also, a lot of emphasis on the offering in the actual stores and the impeccable display arrangements, so that the customer journey and experience remain unforgettable. Pleased customers = good end of year results after all! One of the departments stores that is most well – known for its excellent displays and exclusive product offerings, can be found a little down the road and is, of course, Selfridges!

Selfridges is always colourfully lit and I love looking at the displays! They’re always so unique. This was my favourite one today (a promotion of wooly jumpers):

And just before you get in, you’re reminded that this is a material world:

Going into Selfridges, a material world heaven

It’s actually interesting. Selfridges is mostly where a lot of first or exclusive launches take place. But, is it busy! It’s extremely busy. We were pleasantly surprised to see that Fenwick close to Bond Street has most of the brands that Selfridges has, only it’s quieter. As such, I mostly go to Selfridges when I want to check out the exclusive launches. Today, this was the case with the Armani Power Fabric foundation, which I will put to the test tomorrow and get back to you with my thoughts!

There is so much happening in the foundation world right now…!! That’s amazing! I am testing quite a few products and I will report back soon. 🙂

For now, I hope you have a great Sunday and I hope you enjoyed this post, even if it was a little longer than usual.

Hugs!

Eleni xx

I love how subtle the trio is. As for London, I’ve been there a couple times but I’ve never been to Selfridges.

Yes, it is *very* subtle. But looks pretty overall. Selfridges is where most exclusive launches happen, but you have to be up for crowds if you choose to go next time! I love going there in moderation 🙂

Oh wow! I have not heard of this palette. It looks stunning!! I’m a big fan of orange tones, so I think I need to give this one a go… maybe I’ll skip the bronzer though haha x

Hi Sandra! The bronzer isn’t very pigmented, but you can use it to mix with the rest of the palette to give glow :). I love the packaging and vibrant hues too though! Xx

Thanks Linda! Oh, same here! Can’t help but try all new ones even if they are not right for my skin tone haha! I am working on the Armani one and trying to figure out the best way to present it, but it will be up soon :). x

  6. Lulle February 7, 2017

I swatched this palette a couple weeks ago, and I found the powders a little stiff and not very pigmented. But maybe it was just the tester that had hardened!

    • rougenapples February 7, 2017 — Post Author

Hi Lulle – I find the powders ok in the palette that I have. But definitely not buttery soft. Pigmentation wise, anything I could create is really soft, so not the most pigmented product. I personally like soft cheeks but want to have the option of creating any look I like, so tend to go for pigmentation too. x

Thanks Siham. Yes, I like the highlighting shade too :)!

Ahh, the Peach collection. As you already know I have the eyeshadow palette and I do like the look of the cheek palette but I definitely don’t need it. I don’t like orange leaning bronzers either so I wouldn’t get much use out of that product.

Hi Agata and welcome :)! I can’t say I disagree with you. I think going for the eye palette was a better call.
